Description
may 16 17- 201 Manitoban Elk (Cervus elaphus manitobensis), also known as Wapiti by the Indians, were reintroduced in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park in Cherokee, NC. The original elk that roamed this land, the larger Eastern Elk (cervus elaphus canadasis) were wiped out to hunters and became extinct in the early 1700’s.
